About
Material Afterlives is a speculative design project and digital experience set a century into the future. It reimagines our era’s most over-produced and over-consumed objects from fidget spinners to vintage gaming consoles, as mysterious archaeological "artifacts." By stripping these items of their modern context, the project serves as a stark commentary on the Anthropocene, challenging viewers to confront the environmental legacy of mass production and the fleeting nature of consumer trends.
This project approaches ecology through material awareness, not solutions.
Focus on long-lasting materials created by mass consumption
Treat everyday objects as future environmental remains
Design with restraint, minimal visuals, limited colors, no excess content
Material Afterlives is about seeing waste as evidence, not ignoring it.
